I’m currently working for a company of those that have sprung up like mushrooms the last few years in Athens. The company (foreign of course with HQ in another continent) offers services. In other words, it’s a calling center.
From the moment this situation started, all they have done is fire people. I’m at home, not because the company cares about our lives, but to not sign my dismissal. And I’m not alone. A few days ago, they let go off a coworker one day short of completing 12 straight months (on contract), which is necessary to be eligible for compensation.
They brought in people from other countries to work, and then fire them after 10 days, letting them completely on their own, without any coverage for them to cope. Every day an average of 5 people are let go. Regarding the people still there, of course there is no coverage for them either, no rules are being followed. Their health is in danger, both from the virus, and the terror environment that they are experiencing every day.
Death is always a good opportunity of profit for the capitalists.
We shall not give them our death.
May all of us have strength. Honor and glory to everyone still working in services and stores.
The company’s info are available upon request.
